Turner Scores 18 in the opener; Knicks outrebound their way to the win.


With Evan Turner scoring 18 points, the Nets couldn't win their home and season opener against the New York Knicks. Shooting 36% from the field is never good enough to beat a team, and it showed tonight. The Knicks outrebounded the Nets 37-28, and got 8 second chance points while the Nets got 0. Evan Turner scored 18 points for the Nets, shooting 10-21 on the floor. Lebron added 12, and they were the only 2 to score double figures

Nets finally rebound, but can't stop the 3 from the Heat

As the Nets came off a disappointing season opener, they looked even more horrible against a barrage of 3 point shots from the Heat in a 46-83 slaughtering at home. The Heat took 64 shots and 31 of them were from beyond the arc, and they completed 13 of the shots. Ben Gordon led the Heat, and it seemed the Nets were never going to be able to stop him. While the Nets won the rebounds 40-31, they allowed 19 steals, and coach wasn't too happy about that. Lebron James scored 15 and Brooks Lopez scored 12, but he commited 7 turnovers.

A rough start to the game against the Warriors have the Nets wondering what could have went right to make this their first win. The Nets either outscored or matched the Warriors in the last 3 quarters, but fell behind by 21 in the first quarter and could never catch back up. They were within 12 at one point in the 2nd quarter, but a cold streak of 0 for 8 by Lebron James was not helping their cause. Lebron scored 4 points in the first half, all free throws. He finished with 17 and 7 rebounds for the Nets, and Coach Celestino said if the 2nd half of Lebron James play is a sign of how the season could be changing, he says it is promising.

The New Jersey Nets finally had their first quality showing of the 2010-2011 season, falling to the Boston Celtics 68-72. The Nets went on a tear with less than 2 minutes left in the quarter, scoring 15 points in the final 2:14, diminishing a 12 point lead down to 3. Turner went 4-6 from 3 point land and had 18 points, while Lebron James had 21 points and 6 rebounds. "The opponents 3 point shooting is whats killing us this year, giving them the looks." added Coach Celestino. The Celtics took 32 shots from beyond the arc, a little more than 40% of the shots they took. The Nets did have a season high 6 blocked shots, and they shot 42% from the field. At 0-4, although a loss, this game looked very promising for the future of the Nets.
